William J. Coppola Receives Hildegard C. Froehlich Early Career Researcher Award

The College of Music assistant professor of music education, William J. Coppola, has been named the recipient of the inaugural Hildegard C. Froehlich Early Career Researcher Award. This award was presented for his paper, Performing Humbleness & Haughtiness: Dramaturgical Perspectives of Musical Humility & Pride during the International Symposium on the Sociology of Music Education.

Electronics Added as Instrument Concentration

The College of Music has added electronics as instrument of concentration. Undergraduate students pursuing a composition degree may begin declaring Electronics as their instrument of choice for Fall 2020 admission. UNT describes Electronics as a "broad category of creating audio and audio/visual music using electronic devices including computing devices (computers/tablets/phones), electronic audio hardware (analog synthesizers/digital controllers), and audio/arts technology software (audio production/video production/music programming languages)."

2019 International Symposium on the Sociology of Music Education

2019 ISSME Conference Held at UNT

The International Symposium on the Sociology of Music Education was held on campus. Returning the conference to UNT recognized the College of Music’s Professor of Music Education Emeritus, Hildegard Froehlich, who is one of the founders of the discipline of sociology of music education.
