Christine Belle Cumberledge (BM '97) and Nick Wilson (BM '15) direct bands at Central Jr. High (Hurst-Euless-Bedford TX ISD). The symphonic band traveled to Chicago for the international Midwest Clinic conference.

The Rea Charitable Trust, administered by Wells Fargo Bank, has granted THE College of Music $20,000 to expand our Mariachi program to include other regional Mexican music traditions. Congratulations to Cathy Ragland on this successful grant submission. Mariachi Águilas de UNT recently moved to the Division of Music History, Theory and Ethnomusicology where Cathy has assumed the role of faculty advisor.
PILOT EPISODE SCREENED: The Media Series Workshop students and College of Music’s Drew Schnurr, Assistant Professor in Composition and Media Arts, screened the feature length pilot episode of Fairview Chronicles.
FROMM FOUNDATION HONORS COLLEGE OF MUSIC COMPOSER: Sungji Hong, lecturer in the Division of Composition Studies, has been named by the Board of Directors of the Fromm Music Foundation at Harvard University as one of fifteen composers selected to receive 2019 Fromm commissions. Joseph Klein, chair of the Division of Composition said, "This is one of the most prestigious awards in our discipline, and I am delighted that one of our own faculty members was selected for this honor."
ALUMNUS LEADS MUSIC AT KWU: Milt Allen - The Music Guerrilla (BM '85) is new chair of the department of music at Kansas Wesleyan University.
Sean Powell, chair of the Division of Music Education announced that the College of Music Summers Only MMEd program received an institutional effectiveness award "for academic program demonstrating strong institutional effective practices" from the UNT Toulouse Graduate School.
