Faculty and students of the Division of Vocal Studies regularly perform in opera, concert, and recital both on campus and across the dynamic Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, with its thriving musical culture. Alumni and faculty in the Division of Vocal Studies include Grammy winners and soloists with the world's leading opera companies and orchestras, such as The Metropolitan Opera, Covent Garden, Paris Opera, San Francisco Opera, Boston Symphony, New York Philharmonic, etc. Current students and recent graduates regularly win acceptance into top young artist programs and apprenticeships.
The Division of Vocal Studies has 12 faculty members (10 studio teachers and two collaborative piano professors/coaches) and eight graduate teaching fellows. There are over 80 students pursuing the Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctor of Musical Arts degrees in vocal performance. Additionally, the Division of Vocal Studies serves over 100 music majors with voice as their concentration who are pursuing degrees in Music Education, Music Composition, Music History, Music Theory, and Jazz Studies. We also have a Graduate Artist Certificate program in Vocal Performance. Secondary lessons are available for music majors with other concentrations, as well as other majors across campus. Faculty of the Division of Vocal Studies teach courses in Vocal Pedagogy, Diction, Vocal Literature, Collaborative Piano, and Class Voice.
