Amy Woody joins the UNT faculty as Lecturer in Wind Studies and Director of Athletic Bands. She currently serves the College of Music as a Doctoral Conducting Associate. Prior to UNT, Ms. Woody served as the Director of Bands (2014–2021) and Associate Director of Bands (2007–2014) at John H. Guyer High School in Denton. The Guyer Wind Ensemble was named a Commended Winner in the 2021 Mark of Excellence New Music Category, a 2018 Mark of Excellence National Winner, and a 2018 Western International Band Conference Invited Ensemble in Seattle, Washington. She currently serves as the Chief Programs Officer for the Premier Lone Star Wind Orchestra. She earned the MM in clarinet performance from the Eastman School of Music and BME in music education from Baylor University.

University of North Texas Professor of Collaborative Piano and Vocal Coaching and founder and president of the International Keyboard Collaborative Arts Society - IKCAS, Elvia Puccinelli, has announced the launch of "On Collaborating." The journal is a multi-media platform connecting performance and research in collaborative piano.

University of North Texas Distinguished Research Professor of Music and Anthropology, Steven Friedson, will keynote speak at Yale University’s Institute of Sacred Music. Ritual Transformations of Consciousness is the institute's second annual conference in the Black sacred arts underway May 15 in New Haven, Connecticut.

Assistant Professor of Viola, Daphne Gerling, awarded the Fredell Lack Outstanding Young Studio Teacher Award from the Texas String Teachers Association. TexAsta president Kevin Garcia-Hettinger presented the award.

UNT Associate Professor Alan Baylock directed the First Jazz Band during the Arkansas All-State Music Conference – All-State Clinic performances.

Assistant Professor of Music History and specialist in American popular music history, Brian Wright, presents "Play Guitar with the Ventures!: How Amateurs Reshaped Rock 'n' Roll" at the Cleveland, Ohio Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as part of the Rock Hall's joint lecture series with the American Musicological Society.

The Routledge Companion to Music Theory Pedagogy won an award for outstanding multi-author publication from the Society for Music Theory featuring one chapter by Associate Professor of Music Theory David Heetderks with another by Doug Donley (MA ’16, PhD ‘21) and Andrew Vagts (PhD ‘20).

The University of North Texas Foundation awarded April Prince, principal lecturer in music history, theory and ethnomusicology with its Outstanding Lecturer Award.

Crystal Lynn Gerrard-Ramirez, Assistant Professor of Music Education, published an article, “Denying America”: Vivian’s Counterstory of Undocumented Status," in the Bulletin of the Council for Research in Music Education.
