Welcome New Faculty

College of Music Dean John W. Richmond announced that Brian Walker will be joining the UNT faculty as Associate Professor of Trumpet beginning Fall 2024. Dr. Walker came to UNT from Tarleton State University. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the International Trumpet Guild and is an alumnus of UNT receiving his DMA in 2011.

Long Serving Faculty Announces Retirement

After serving UNT and its College of Music students since 1986, Jesse Eschbach, Professor of Organ, announced his intent to retire at the close of the 2023-2024 academic year. Dr. Eschbach is University of Michigan, Indiana University and Conservatoire de Rueil-Malmaison educated, a published author, performer, lecturer and pedagogue. Among others, he studied organ with Marie-Madeleine Duruflé-Chevalier and piano with Christiane Devos. His students sit on important organ appointments throughout the world. In 2023 he oversaw major expansion and renovation of the 100-year-old 1949 Möller IV/78 in UNT's Main Auditorium originally built in 1924.

Music Theory Professor Writes Chapter

Professor of Music Theory, David Bard-Schwarz, published Normativity, Psychoanalysis, Music: Modalities of Understanding Disruption in the First Movement of Mahler's Ninth Symphony. This is a chapter in a book edited by Tobias Janz and Jens Gerrit Papenburg titled Ästhetische Normativität in der Musik published by Verlag Vittorio Klostermann.
