Alumnus Wins Prize

JaRod Hall (BM ‘14) won the 2021 Barbara Buehlman Prize for Composition for his piece, “Through the Storm” to be premiered by a 2022 performing ensemble at the 76th Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic.

Alumna Wins Jeopardy!

University of North Texas music education and flute graduate, Emily Fiasco (BM ’12), won the July 13 episode of Jeopardy! She is also cousin to UNT College of Music development support coordinator, Phillip Marion (BM '14). She is shown here on set with host Mayim Bialik (l).

Alumnus Wins

The American Viola Society announced the winner of the 2022 Maurice Gardner Competition for Composers. First Prize was awarded to Daniel Sabzghabaei (BM '14, Honors College), for “Under This Blue of My Land” for viola and voice to be performed at the 2022 AVS Festival and the 47th International Viola Congress.
