The results of Season 45 of The Telly Awards, “Honoring excellence in video and television across all screens,” were announced. The College of Music promotional video, “Welcome to UNT/This Is Where You Belong,” was named Gold Winner in the categories of Recruitment - Online and General Educational Institution - Online. The Texas based creative team at Hoegger Communications produced the video from where the College of Music’s first-ever commercials were created. These are the sixth and seventh prizes awarded for the video.

Diana Cooley (Administrative Coordinator for Conducting/Ensembles, Keyboard, and Vocal Studies) received an Academic Excellence Award from UNT for her outstanding work in documenting Institutional Effectiveness (TracDat/Improve). She was recognized specifically for improvements submitted regarding the MM in Conducting Performance Plan. The award was presented to Diana by Provost Michael McPherson.

Giant Boykin is a UNT alumnus, having earned his master's degree in interdisciplinary and jazz studies in Spring 2022. Prior to his master's degree, Giant earned a bachelor's degree in music performance from the University of Texas at Tyler. See more of his story.

Kirsten Soriano is welcomed in her new position as Associate Dean for Operations. Dr. Soriano has more than twenty years of experience in academic and arts administration for organizations, including the Chicago Symphony, Minnesota Orchestra, International Contemporary Ensemble, and Ensemble Dal Niente, for which she is the founder and served as Executive Director. During this time, Ensemble Dal Niente produced over one hundred concerts in Chicago and New York and received the Kranichsteiner Stipendium Preise during the 45th Summer Course for New Music in Darmstadt, Germany.
