Maria Baylock provides executive administrative support to the Dean of the College of Music at the University of North Texas. She has more than 25 years of experience in the music industry, including more than 20 years in education. With a customer service-oriented approach, she works to build strong collaborative relationships to optimize office management, event planning, and communication strategies with faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders, in alignment with UNT’s core values - caring, creative, and resilient. 

Maria serves on the Mary Jo & V. Lane Rawlins Fine Arts Series Committee and is serving a second term as a UNT Staff Senator on the Executive Committee as Parliamentarian and Chair of the Bylaws Committee. In 2021, Maria was the only finalist in higher education in the 10th Annual Dallas/Fort Worth Admin Awards. 

Maria seeks a wide range of opportunities to further her professional development to support her love of learning. She is also a cellist and enjoys teaching, performing, and recording throughout the DFW area. She earned a Bachelor Music degree in music performance from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., and Master of Music degrees in music performance and music history from Southern Methodist University in Dallas. Maria grew up in the Shenandoah Valley and enjoys outdoor adventures with her husband, Alan Baylock, and their three adult children.
