The UNT Marching Percussion Camp trains high school percussionists each summer in the tradition of the world-renowned North Texas Drum Line.
Students will participate in sectionals and ensembles focusing on establishing strong drumming fundamentals and expressive musical concepts. Faculty and guest artists will present clinics designed to encourage dedicated practice habits, listening skills, and progressive percussion techniques.
Learn from the best - Join Paul Rennick, Mark Ford, Michael Hernandez and an outstanding percussion staff for an amazing week of drumming!
Individuals are encouraged to attend to improve their drumming skills.
The UNT Marching Percussion Camp auditions are basic drumming exercises and taught by rote on the day of the audition. There is no written music to prepare or learn. This brief audition is for general section placement to group students with similar drumming experience together. It is a positive process and often students may be moved to a different section to help fine tune their placement.
The camp begins with check in at 3:00pm on Sunday. The camp will conclude with a finale performance on Thursday late afternoon/early evening. Campers have the option to stay the final night of the camp for an additional fee if needed.
Campers must provide their own instruments and sticks/mallets.
