June 22-26, 2026

Overnight campers will arrive and check into the residence hall on Sunday, June 21. Residence halls open at 3:00pm. The workshop concludes after the Friday evening Bass Bash Concert.
About the Workshop

Professor Lynn Seaton has established himself as one of the leading performers and teachers of the jazz bass in the U.S. today. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his annual Jazz Double Bass Workshop.  This intimate workshop is limited to 11 upright bass players. These spots are first-come/first-served, thus your spot is not fully secured until you have completed registration and made your final payment. The workshop is open to advanced high school (14+), college, professional, and serious amateur upright bassists wishing to expand their capabilities. Beginner-level players should register for the Jeff Bradetich Workshop.

The Lynn Seaton Jazz Double Bass Workshop offers an intensive week of study and performance opportunities for the upright jazz bassist.

Topics to be covered include:

  • Upright technique
  • Developing walking bass lines
  • Small group playing with a rhythm section
  • Music theory
  • Jazz bass history and literature
  • Bass ensembles

Participants also receive coachings from Professor Seaton and attend faculty concerts throughout the week.

The workshop concludes with the annual Bass Bash Concert featuring all participants performing in bass ensembles on Friday evening. Family and friends are encouraged to attend this free concert!
