Claire Majerus, President

Claire Majerus, from Columbia, Missouri, is a junior instrumental elementary music education major at the University of North Texas with a concentration in piano. Claire has been a member of the North Texas Music Educators Association for three years, and an officer for the last two. Claire regularly performs with the UNT Concert and University Bands as the pianist. She uses the wide variety of musical opportunities available on campus to perform in additional ensembles, such as the West End Vocal Jazz Ensemble and the 8 O'Clock Steel Band, and has completed a secondary in alto saxophone, voice, and is working currently towards a secondary proficiency in organ. In addition to NTMEA, Claire is active in several organizations on campus, including the Phi Tau chapter of Mu Phi Epsilon, where she serves as the Historian. She is also a member of the Fine Arts Series Committee, volunteers with the Start Up The Band! program, and works at Bruce Hall as a Resident Assistant in the Music and Jazz Living and Learning Community. Claire enjoys camping, hiking, and spending time outdoors with friends. After graduation, Claire will continue to work towards reaching out to the people around her through her love of music, specifically as a general elementary music teacher.

 

Isabelle Bouhadana

Isabelle Bouhadana, Vice President

Isabelle Bouhadana is a junior Instrumental Music Education major at the University of North Texas with a concentration in flute. Within the college of music, she has performed with UNT Concert and University Bands, UNT Flute Choir, and the Green Brigade Marching Band. Isabelle is a visual and music technician for Liberty High School in Frisco, TX, as well as for the Green Brigade. In addition to NTMEA, Isabelle is a member of Mu Phi Epsilon, a coeducational professional music fraternity. Within the Phi Tau chapter at UNT, she serves as Vice President and is a member of three committees in addition to performing with two chamber ensembles. In her free time, Isabelle enjoys reading, spending time with friends, and watching Gilmore Girls repeatedly. Isabelle aspires to foster a community based around love and music through education, and hopefully to run a band program so well that it makes her students enjoy school as much as she does.

 

Max Mollenkamp, Secretary

A Jefferson City, Missouri, native, Max Mollenkamp is a sophomore at the UNT College of Music. He is primarily a trombonist but equally loves singing and playing guitar. At UNT, Max has played in Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Basketball Band, Green Brigade, Trombone Choir, and the 7 O'clock Lab Band. He has worked as a visual and music technician for marching bands around the DFW area and was a field instructor for the Green Brigade. He has also marched for three summers with Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps. In his free time Max enjoys swing dancing and cooking new recipes. In the future Max hopes to do something cool, live somewhere cool, and have as many dogs as possible.

 

Dr. Don Taylor, Faculty Advisor

Dr. Don Taylor teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in music education at the University of North Texas. Currently serving as the Coordinator of PhD Studies, his primary area of instruction is elementary general music, and his research interests focus on social justice issues in music education. Prior to receiving a PhD in Music Education from the University of Texas at Austin, he taught elementary music for nine years in San Antonio, Texas. He has published articles in a variety of journals, including the Journal of Research in Music Education the Bulletin of the Council for Research in Music Education, the Journal of Music Teacher EducationContributions to Music Education, General Music Today, and Music Educators Journal.
