Scholarships & Assistantships

If you are an out-of-state student and you are awarded a competitive scholarship of $1,000 or more during the fall (or fall plus spring), you are able to attend UNT at the resident tuition rate for that academic year, including the summer term. This is true for both music and academic scholarships.

Graduate students holding 50% FTE appointments  (20 hours/week) as salaried graduate employees are eligible for a waiver of non-resident tuition each semester they are employed as such.

Jazz Scholarships and Assistantships

Competitive jazz scholarships are available by audition. All jazz applicants receive consideration for a scholarship; there isn't a separate scholarship application. Appointment to assistantship positions may depend on the applicant's having passed certain courses, some of which have prerequisites.
