UNT Music Minors
We offer four undergraduate music minors:
General Music Minor
- Open to all UNT students not pursuing a music major
- No audition or application required
- 18 hours of coursework including Music History, Music Theory, Piano, and Music Electives.
Music Business Minor
- Open to all UNT students
- Requires application through Acceptd*
- 18 hours of coursework including Music Business and Entrepeneurship, Career Development,
Music Law and Finance, and more.
Commercial Music Minor
- Open to all UNT students
- Requires application through Acceptd*
- 18 hours of coursework including Digital Audition Workstation Techniques, Songwriting,
Album Making, and more.
- Students must be currently enrolled in or previously completed MUAE 3100 prior to
completing the application.
Music Theory Minor
- Open to all UNT music majors only
- Requires approval for theory area coordinator
- 18 hours of coursework including Form Analysis, Counterpoint, Schenkerian Analysis,
and more.

*Application instructions for Commercial Music and Music Business Minors:
You will complete the application through the Acceptd application system- https://app.getacceptd.com/untmusic
- Select 'Undergraduate Degrees' as your Level in the Start an Application box beneath the UNT logo
- Select ‘Commercial Music’ as your Area
- Select ‘Commercial Music Minor or Music Business Minor’ as your Program
The minor application will open October 1st each year. The deadline to complete the
application, along with required materials, is April 1st. Decisions regarding minor
applications will be communicated via email by the end of April.
