An internship at Outside in Music will give students an inside look into the real business of music. Now in the 21st century, a company (or artist) cannot deal exclusively in one part of the business. The record business, booking and touring industry, and all of the other business facets of the industry are coming together to be handled by individual entities. In addition to these business aspects, we have an association with a NY-based non-profit, the Institute for Creative Music. Grant writing, fundraising, and organizational methods are imperative skills for the modern musician. This will enable students to get experience working in both the for-profit and non-profit worlds. Students who intern with Outside in Music will gain experience with the following activities that will enable them to translate these skills into their own careers:
- Copywriting
- Social Media Marketing
- Market Research / Internet Research Skills
- High-Level investigative business email techniques
- Relationship development with Promoters at Clubs and Festivals around the USA and abroad.
- Mentorship from NY Jazz Artists who has managed their career from the ground up
- Learn skills to produce, present, and put out albums and concerts.
- Day to day communication and project management skills.
- Clear and Concise Communication
- Time Management skills
