Jose Aponte

José M. Aponte is a native of Carolina, Puerto Rico. He is a graduate from the Conservatorio de Musica de Puerto Rico, The Musicians Institute of Technology in Los Angeles, California and holds a masters degree from University of North Texas Jazz Studies Program. José has performed with artists such as Giovanni Hidalgo, Emil Richards, Carlos Guedes, Andy Narell, Poncho Sanchez, Batacumbele, Gino Vanelli, Airto Moreira, Frank Catalano, Brian Bromberg, Pablo Mayor and Michael Spiro. Currently he is an adjunct faculty member at the University of North Texas Percussion and Jazz departments, where he teaches drum set and conducts the Afro-Cuban, Brazilian ensembles and The UNT Latin Jazz Lab Band. He also is a faculty member of the UNT Summer Drum set workshop and the Global Percussion Summer Camp. An active member of the Dallas/Fort Worth musical scene as a freelance performer and studio musician Jose works regularly with groups and artists such as, Kalimbe Global Jazz Group, John Murphy Jazz Trio, Crispin Catholic Funk Band, The Crosstimbers Community Church Worship Team, Mi Son, Mi Son, Mi Son Cuban Group, Eymar Furtado Brazilian Jazz Trio and his own Latin /Brazilian Jazz projects Caribe Club, Latin Vibes and Batuque Jazz. Mr. Aponte is an artist/clinician for the Pearl Drum Company and Pro-Mark Sticks
