Fromm Foundation honors College of Music Composer Sungji Hong

FROMM FOUNDATION HONORS COLLEGE OF MUSIC COMPOSER: Sungji Hong, lecturer in the Division of Composition Studies, has been named by the Board of Directors of the Fromm Music Foundation at Harvard University as one of fifteen composers selected to receive 2019 Fromm commissions. Joseph Klein, chair of the Division of Composition said, "This is one of the most prestigious awards in our discipline, and I am delighted that one of our own faculty members was selected for this honor."

Sean Powell, chair of the Division of Music Education announced that the College of Music Summers Only MMEd program received an institutional effectiveness award "for academic program demonstrating strong institutional effective practices" from the UNT Toulouse Graduate School.

UNT Opera performing "The Cunning Little Vixen"

UNT Opera Awarded Two Prizes

UNT Opera has been awarded two prizes in the National Opera Association competition for the best college productions in America. The Cunning Little Vixen, by Leoš Janáček won 2nd place while Gianni Schicchi and Le testament de la tante Caroline, by Giacomo Puccini/Albert Roussel won 3rd place in their divisions.
