This week, the UNT College of Music Council of Division Chairs selected Landon Chang, saxophone student, as the 2019-2020 Presser Undergraduate Scholar. This is considered the most prestigious undergraduate award in music at University of North Texas with a continuous history of more than 60 years. PROFESSOR OF VOICE TAKES LEADERSHIP POSITION: During the May meeting of the UNT Faculty Senate, Jennifer Lane, Professor of Voice, was elected as Chair of that body. She begins her duties July 1, 2020.
PUCCINELLI HONORED: UNT Student Activities has bestowed Elvia Puccinelli, Associate Professor of Collaborative Piano and Vocal Coaching, with its Advisor of the Year award which honors "one faculty or staff member who contributes time and expertise in a volunteer capacity to a student organization at UNT."
Professor of Piano and two-time GRAMMY nominee, Joseph Banowetz, is a verified artist on Spotify with more than 120,000 monthly listeners and has been added to editorial playlists with nearly 400,000 followers.
Felix Olschofka has been appointed as Associate Dean for Operations and begins those duties today. He previously served the UNT College of Music as Professor of Violin and Director of Graduate Studies.
As of July 1, 2020, Ryan Sullivan (DMA '19) will become President for the Southwestern Region of the American Choral Directors Association.
