Originally from the Los Angeles region, Jack Lanhardt is an award-winning composer and arranger completing his Master’s Degree in Jazz Composition at the University of North Texas, where he studies with Grammy-nominated composer, Rich DeRosa.
Jack has had the incredible opportunity to have his compositions and arrangements be performed and recorded by the Grammy-nominated One O’ Clock Lab Band© , and has had the chance to write arrangements for the likes of Lyle Lovett, Vincent Herring, Michael League, Miguel Zenón, Helen Sung and many more. His biggest influences in music are Michael Giacchino, Maria Schneider and Rich DeRosa. Jack is also the copyist for the jazz educational company, Jazz Lesson Videos.
Recently, Jack has won awards for his compositions and arrangements, including the 2023 Herb Alpert Young Jazz Composers Award and the 2024 Downbeat Student Music Award for Jazz Arrangement - Big Band.
After his time at UNT, Jack will return to Los Angeles to pursue a career in composition for film, TV , and video games.
