
Mariah Spiry joined the UNT College of Music as an Academic Advisor in the fall of 2025. Previously, she taught public high school choir for eleven years, most recently as the Head Choir Director of Mansfield High School. During her time in public education, she was honored to work with invited choirs to conventions such as SWACDA (2022) and ACDA (2023). She has served in positions for UIL and TMEA as well as teaching dozens of Texas All-State musicians.
Mariah holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Baylor University and a Master of Music Education degree from Florida State University. She is honored to have former students pursuing degrees in music at the university level, with some being here at UNT. As a first-generation college graduate, she is passionate about advising students in their academic journeys and beyond. Mariah is a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist, having studied both violin and harp in addition to her choral studies. She enjoys exploring different genres in music, supporting the live music scene in Denton, and living with her two bunnies.
