Senior Academic Advisor
Grant Carrington

Grant Carrington completed his bachelor of music in composition from the University of North Texas in May 2018. During his undergraduate studies, he was a founding member of Eclective, a music and media collective that was awarded first prize in the College of Music’s inaugural Music Entrepreneurship Competition. As a senior academic advisor, he works primarily with incoming first-time-in-college students.

Grant is a composer, classically trained pianist, and accompanist currently working in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Considering himself equal parts composer and performer, Grant’s eclectic musical tastes and performance experiences instill his own compositions with a playful quirkiness. Drawing on traditional forms for inspiration, Grant blurs the dividing lines between classical and popular genres, incorporating a jazzy musical theatre flare with an impressionistic aesthetic.

As a performer, Grant focuses on contemporary piano music, singing his own songs, and accompanying for students from the middle school to professional level. He thoroughly enjoys learning his colleagues’ music and believes in the importance of bringing new music to life as part of the continuing tradition of musicians who have, throughout history, collaborated with composers to realize their meticulously crafted works of art.
