Grace Gelpi (they/them) assumes the role of Executive Assistant to the Dean of the UNT College of Music from a previous position in the College as Communications Specialist. They are a transplant to Denton from Austin, where they worked for the State of Texas as a Program Assistant for the Texas Commission on the Arts.
Grace is passionate about equitable access to high-quality artistic programming and arts education, having taught music in private lessons and in public classrooms and performed for diverse audiences nationwide. In 2022, they won the gold medal in the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition as the baritone saxophonist for Mixed Media saxophone quartet.
Grace earned a Master of Music degree in Saxophone Performance and a Certificate in Nonprofit Management and Leadership from the University of Georgia. Previously, they earned a Bachelor of Music degree from Michigan State University, double-majoring in Saxophone Performance and Music Education.
Outside of work, Grace enjoys spoiling their two cats (Dorothea and Felina), cooking, and thrift shopping.
