In memoriam of James Gillespie, Professor Emeritus of the College of Music
Professor Emeritus of the College of Music, James Gillespie, died Thursday, June 18. He served the students of the University of North Texas College of Music for 33 years, beginning in 1978. Dr. Gillespie was the featured soloist for the debut performance of the Dallas Wind Symphony, now known as the Dallas Winds, and was Editor of the International Clarinet Association, “The Clarinet.” A review in the Dallas Morning News says, “he played with silken tone and suave inflection.”
