Giant Boykin is a University of North Texas alumnus, having earned his Master's degree in Interdisciplinary and Jazz Studies, Spring 2022. He studied with renowned professor Brad Leali and other accomplished musicians during his time at UNT. Prior to his Master's degree, Giant earned a Bachelor's degree in Music Performance from the University of Texas at Tyler.

Growing up in a military family, Giant has lived in and traveled to many different places developing a love for music and connecting with others. He began playing drums at the age of 2 in church and quickly honed his craft by playing with other musicians by ear. At the age of 10, Giant joined his school orchestra and learned the upright string bass, playing classically before adding the saxophone a year later, which has become his instrument of choice. Throughout high school, Giant continued to expand his musical knowledge and skill set, exploring composition, arranging and orchestration for both his own projects and others. He also gained experience in sound engineering for live events and recording projects, working as a producer.

In addition to his passion for music, Giant has built a professional career by working with various churches and non-profit organizations to help build relationships and community. He continues to perform in the Dallas/Fort Worth region a variety of bands and church groups in his spare time. When not working or making music he enjoys playing golf and basketball and spending quality time with his wife Chelsey and son.
