Kathryn Davidson, a Dallas native, is a conductor, educator, singer, and flutist dedicated to creating community through the choral arts. Kathryn is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts at the University of North Texas. She serves as the Assistant Conductor of the Dallas Symphony Chorus and Associate Conductor of Camerata, UNT’s treble choir. In addition to her Teaching Assistant position, Kathryn is the Chorus Master for Opera Arlington and the UNT Opera Program.
 
Kathryn holds a Master of Music in Choral Conducting from Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, where she was a student of Dr. Dominick DiOrio, Dr. Betsy Burleigh, and Dr. Chris Albanese. While at Jacobs, she founded the Undergraduate Symposium Conductors Chorus, directed the All-Campus Chorus, served as Assistant Chorus Master for multiple operas, assisted the GRAMMY-nominated Singing Hoosiers, and taught private vocal and musicianship lessons. During her time in Bloomington, IN, Kathryn was also the Choir Director at St. Thomas Lutheran Church.
 
Prior to her graduate studies, Kathryn was the music teacher at Great Hearts Academy in Irving, Texas where she taught choir, music theory, and music history. A strong advocate for music education, Kathryn believes that musical experiences should accessible to all young people. She has been a choral clinician at multiple middle and high schools, and well as judged Solo & Ensemble and adjudicated All-State Choir competitions in Texas, Indiana, and Alaska.
 
As a singer, Kathryn has performed both nationally and internationally as a soloist and choral singer. She has sung in professional and semi-professional ensembles in Texas, North Carolina, Connecticut, Indiana, Washington, Massachusetts, Tuscany, Italy, and Stuttgart, Germany. Recent engagements include the Junges Stuttgart Bach Ensemble in Stuttgart, Germany, multiple solo performances with the Bloomington Bach Cantata Project, and a Singing Fellowship at the Norfolk Chamber Choir + Choral Conducting Festival.
 
Kathryn has conducted and participated in multiple masterclasses and festivals, including the International Conducting Training Program at the Cincinnati-Conservatory of Music, Cascade Conducting Choral Masterclass at Pacific Lutheran University, the Sarteano Chamber Choral Conducting Masterclass, and Chorus America’s Choral-Orchestral Conducting Masterclass.
 
Davidson holds a Bachelors of Music Education (Choral) and Bachelors of Music (Flute Performance) from the University of North Texas. In her time at UNT, Kathryn was a featured performer at the Boston Early Music Festival with the Collegium Singers, as well as flute soloist for Dennis Mariev’s Symphony no. 1 in C Major, “Wings.” Kathryn studied voice with Dr. Carol Wilson and flute with Dr. Mary Karen Clardy.
