Music Library

The Sandborn Room (pictured) in Willis Library room 430A is home to the Music Library's collections of rare books and scores, and is named after longtime Denton resident and former UNT music librarian Edna Mae Sanborn. The room displays only a small selection of the collection's holdings, most of which are stored elsewhere in the Music Library.

José M. Aponte

Drumset artist, percussionist and educator José Aponte has performed throughout his career with artists such as Batacumbele, Carlos Guedes, Poncho Sánchez, Gino Vanelli, Brian Bromberg, Lyle Mays, Andy Narell, David Rudder, Fred Hamilton, Dan Haerle, Tracy Thorton, Lian Teague, Airto Moreira, Manuel Valera, Michael Spiro, Nestor Torres and Kurt Elling.

Gideon F. Alorwoyie

Gideon Alorwoyie is professor of music, principal dancer/choreographer and director of the UNT African Percussion Ensemble. He joined the College of Music faculty in 1996.

He is the high priest of the Yewe Voodoo Cult.

Alorwoyie is from Anlo-Afiadenyigba in the Volta Region of Ghana, West Africa and is highly regarded as one of Ghana's foremost virtuosos of traditional music and dance.
