Professor of Piano, Joseph Banowetz, was very recently named Honorary Education Director for Lang Lang Art World in China.
Grant Peters (DMA ’98, MM ’91) was elected to a two year term as the 23rd President of the International Trumpet Guild (Official) - the premiere professional organization of trumpeters, serving 4,000 members in more than 64 countries. Peters is in his 24th year as professor at Missouri State University Music Department where he teaches applied trumpet.
Austin Schilling, saxophone, has been named as finalist for "The President's Own" United States Marine Band 2020 Concerto Competition and in February will compete at the John Philip Sousa Band Hall at the Marine Barracks Annex in Washington, DC.
The junior music education and saxophone performance major was named winner of the Young Artists Woodwind Division of the Music Teachers National Association competition. He advances to the next round held in 2020
ALUMNA HONORED AS REGENTS TEACHER: Cynthia Gonzales (MM Theory '90, BM '82) an associate professor in the School of Music at Texas State University in San Marcos, was honored in 2019 as a Texas State University System Regents’ Teacher and received the 2018 Texas State Presidential Award for Excellence in Teaching

Christine Belle Cumberledge (BM '97) and Nick Wilson (BM '15) direct bands at Central Jr. High (Hurst-Euless-Bedford TX ISD). The symphonic band traveled to Chicago for the international Midwest Clinic conference.
