“Dueling Fundamentals for Two Trumpets” was published by Mountain Peak Music. The UNT College of Music assistant professor of trumpet says, "The book challenges and engages two trumpeters when practicing fundamentals in a duet format. The book includes exercises dealing with sound production, flexibility, articulation, finger dexterity, and range." The book also places value on collaborative practice.

The College of Music mourned the death of UNT alumnus and American jazz pianist and composer known for his work as a member of the Pat Metheny Group. He was an eleven time GRAMMY® winner and 23 time nominee. Pat Metheney wrote, “Lyle was one of the greatest musicians I have ever known. Across more than 30 years, every moment we shared in music was special."

Rosana Eckert, principle lecturer of vocal jazz, served as the guest conductor for the 2020 Idaho All State Jazz Choir which performed at the Idaho MEA convention in Nampa.
