Sarah Dunbar, (DMA '19, MM '17, BM Jazz Studies '15, BM Classical Saxophone '15), accepted the position of as Assistant Professor of Music - Woodwinds (tenure-track), at Midwestern State University, Wichita Falls, TX.

The 43rd annual Student Music Awards were awarded to UNT Jazz Singers, Jennifer Barnes, director, Wes Dziedzic for Outstanding Scat Soloist on “Course” and Outstanding Improv Soloist: Vaughn Faison on “Estrogenia” along with Avenue C, Kathryn Sherman, director and Hanna Song as Outstanding Scat Soloist on “Beautiful Moons Ago”. Wes C. Moore, (DMA '12) is now Dean of the College of Fine Arts at Dallas Baptist University. As well, he continues as DBU's Chair of the Department of Music.

UNT College of Music DMA student Hyunjee Lee won 2nd prize of the Myrna Brown Flute Competition.

The American Harp Society Foundation Board of Directors and Competition Committee awarded Kaitlin Miller as one of three national winners of the 2020 Anne Adams Competition.

Mary Karen Clardy, Regents Professor of Flute, presented at the 35th Annual Festivales Internacionales de Flautistas, Lima - Perú. The festival was live-streamed.

The hardscape to the east of the music building received a little pick me up assuring that our entire community has access to our facilities.

This week, the UNT College of Music Council of Division Chairs selected Landon Chang, saxophone student, as the 2019-2020 Presser Undergraduate Scholar. This is considered the most prestigious undergraduate award in music at University of North Texas with a continuous history of more than 60 years. PUCCINELLI HONORED: UNT Student Activities has bestowed Elvia Puccinelli, Associate Professor of Collaborative Piano and Vocal Coaching, with its Advisor of the Year award which honors "one faculty or staff member who contributes time and expertise in a volunteer capacity to a student organization at UNT."

Professor of Piano and two-time GRAMMY nominee, Joseph Banowetz, is a verified artist on Spotify with more than 120,000 monthly listeners and has been added to editorial playlists with nearly 400,000 followers.

As of July 1, 2020, Ryan Sullivan (DMA '19) will become President for the Southwestern Region of the American Choral Directors Association.
