Fellowships/Scholarships Available

A limited number of Teaching Fellowships are available and distributed on a competitive basis to pianists able to teach class piano, accompany in the instrumental and voice studios, and teach concentration level and secondary piano students.

Scholarships are also available in limited number and are distributed on a competitive basis to the very best of the performance majors accepted into the Piano Department.

The UNT College of Music has been designated as the sole beneficiary of a $1.5 million trust bequeathed by Mr. Carl Eastman, who died in March 2005, and Mrs. Margaret Eastman, who died in October 2000, to fund scholarships for piano and organ students.

Carl Eastman, a retired engineer and amateur pianist with a love of fine music, used to drive 115 miles from his home in Bennington, OK, to the University of North Texas to hear piano students in recitals on Thursday afternoons.
