Jamie Rives is an Adjunct Instructor of Music Education at the University of North Texas where she teaches undergraduate courses in elementary music and is a Field Supervisor for Clinical Teachers. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Tarleton State University and a master’s degree in Music Education with an Elementary Emphasis and Kodaly Specialization from Wichita State University.
Ms. Rives taught elementary music in Denton ISD for 13 years where she presented Professional Development and served on the curriculum team as lead curriculum writer and lead elementary music teacher. Prior to working in Denton ISD, she taught elementary music in Grapevine Colleyville ISD.
Currently, Ms. Rives is a mentor teacher for 1-3rd year elementary music teachers in Frisco ISD, as well as an instructional coach and professional development provider for art and music at Great Hearts Lower School in Irving. Rives is the Associate Director of Music for Children and Youth at First United Methodist Church Denton and teaches Understanding the Arts: Music and Aural Skills at Texas Woman’s University.
