STRING AUDITION REPERTOIRE FOR FALL, 2009

UNT Orchestral Studies consists of two ensembles for 2009-10: UNT Symphony Orchestra & UNT Concert Orchestra.
Students should be prepared to play a portion of a solo work – no accompanist – plus all excerpts from the “A” LIST or “B” LIST explained below.  Beginning August 1, 2009, ALL String and Harp students must email Chao Li, Orchestral Studies Teaching Assistant, at cli4@hotmail.com to sign-up for an audition time.

“A” LIST
The “A” list is to be played by all returning UNT students who have ever played in the Symphony Orchestra or Chamber Orchestra.  This list is also for all new students except those that determine, in consultation with their applied instructor, that the “A” list is too challenging.  Students playing the “A” list will be considered for assignment to Symphony Orchestra, but may be assigned to Concert Orchestra based on audition results.

“B” LIST
The “B” list is to be played by incoming students who have determined the “A” list is too challenging OR by returning students who have never been assigned previously to Symphony Orchestra or Chamber Orchestra AND who have determined the “A” list to be too challenging.  Students choosing to play the “B” list will not be under consideration for assignment to Symphony Orchestra.
