Academic Advising

Brian McKee

Originally from Northern California, Dr. Brian McKee serves as Academic Counselor for Graduate Studies at the University of North Texas College of Music, where he advises graduate students on their degree progress and guides them through their programs. Musically educated as a bassoonist, he is a member of the Lone Star Wind Orchestra, a professional wind ensemble based in Dallas, and also a bassoon instructor for the Denton Independent School District.

Jessie Niu

Ms. Jessie Niu is a native of China. She speaks Mandarin Chinese and three other Chinese dialects. Jessie received her Bachelor’s degree in English from Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, China in 1999, and a Master’s degree in Counseling from the University of North Texas in 2012. Before she came to the U.S., Jessie taught English as a foreign language to adults, college students and corporate trainees for almost a decade. In 2004, she earned her Trinity Certification in TESOL in England.

Carol Pollard

Carol Pollard joined the College of Music Advising team in 1998 and serves as the Director of Undergraduate Advising. She was awarded the UCAN Eagle award for Academic Advising in 2005, a UNT Staff Contribution Award in 2006 and the UCAN Professional Development Award in 2009. Her previous teaching experience includes beginning music theory and private piano and voice.

Ana White

Ana White is Senior Academic Counselor for the University of North Texas College of Music Undergraduate Advising Office.  She joined the UNT family in 2006 and has worked as an advisor in the UNT College of Arts & Sciences as well as the UNT Mayborn School of Journalism.  Previously, Ana advised students in the College of Fine Arts at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
