Wind Ensemble Wins

Conducted by Daniel Cook, the University of North Texas Wind Ensemble has been named the first-place winner of the American Prize in Band/Wind Ensemble Performance in the large collegiate ensemble division.

Faculty Member Receives Second Commission Grant of Summer

Kimberly Cole Luevano’s HAVEN Trio was awarded a 2021 Chamber Music America's Classical Commissioning Program grant for a work from composer Ivette Herryman Rodriquez. The program supports professional United States based ensembles and presenters for the creation and performance of classical contemporary chamber works by American composers.

Alumna Shares Drum Major Heritage

Elizabeth (Kramer) Anderson, (BM ‘00 Education) and former University of North Texas Green Brigade drum major and now director of bands at Denton ISD Navo Middle School, was featured by the United States Naval Academy Band with her great-great-great-grandfather.

Eckert Premieres Work

Voices Of Change and Rosana Eckert premiered the final work of the late composer Jack Waldenmeir, "Quartet for Heather." Written for jazz voice, cello, clarinet, and piano, the piece was performed during the final concert of the 46th concert season of Voices of Change, an organization that celebrates and encourages new chamber music in North Texas.

Doctoral student Kensley Behel published Synthesizing the Literature on Stress Velopharyngeal Insufficiency in Recommendations for Music Educators. Brass Band World Premiere Tonight

David Childs and Raquel Rodriquez Samayoa conduct the University of North Texas Brass Band at 7:30 tonight in the Murchison Performing Arts Center. The world premiere of Mill City Flourish, by Stamp will be conducted by Raquel Rodriquez Samayoa. Other selections include works by Lovatt-Cooper, Williams, Bates, Price and Jenkins.
