The King’s Peak International Music Competition Winter session announced that the University of North Texas Bancroft Quartet placed first in the Ensemble category for their age group. Performers are Sardor Djumaev, Diana Galimova, Fang Chen and Mengmeng Huang.
Nikki Velonis (BM ‘03) has joined Classical WRR 101 as a new host at the Dallas/Fort Worth (USA) classical radio station. WRR 101.1 is celebrating its centennial birthday this year.
The University of North Texas Wind Orchestra has been invited to perform at the Southwestern Division Conference of the CBDNA - College Band Directors National Association. Andrew Trachsel, Associate Professor of Wind Studies and Chair of the Division of Conducting and Ensembles is conductor. The Spring 2022 conference is to held in Waco, Texas.
Noah Myers has received the Alicja and Anna Śmietana award at the 4th International Jarek Śmietana Jazz Guitar Competition, Kraków, Poland. The prize recognizes the best performance of a Jarek Śmietana composition. smietanacompetition.com/en/
Jack Courtright was named winner and DJ Rice placed 2nd at the third edition of the UNT/Conn Selmer International Jazz Trombone Competition.
