Description:
Spend two weeks working on the Big Island of Hawaii coaching and mentoring young musicians (age 15-18) by leading sectionals, couching chamber music groups, leading workshops, and through participating in fun-time non-musical activities (hiking, surfing, beach fun, snorkeling, and so on).
Minimum qualifications must include one of the following:
String specialist: Mastery of one (Violin/Viola/Cello/Bass) with strong general knowledge of all.
Brass Specialist: Mastery of one (Trumpet/French Horn/Trombone) with strong general knowledge of all.
Woodwind Specialist: Mastery of one (Flute/Clarinet/Oboe/Bassoon) with strong general knowledge of all.
Preferred Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree in music performance or music education
Professional performance experience with orchestras, or concert bands, or chamber ensembles, or jazz bands
A secondary musical specialty (for example: composition, or conducting, or electronic music creation, or audio engineering, or another such specialized interest)
Salary: includes payment for the two weeks of instruction, lodging, and partial to full compensation for airfare (depending on where you are flying from and how you choose to fly)
