The University of Memphis invites applications for the following nine-month, tenure track position in the Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music beginning August 20, 2019

Position: Assistant Professor of Music Business, Music Industry Program

Responsibilities: Duties include teaching in the areas of artist management, music publishing, legal aspects such as entertainment and copyright law, new media/internet operations, the recording industry, and mentorship and supervision of student internships. Additional responsibilities include management of the University of Memphis' Highwater Records label and Music River publishing company.

Qualifications: Master's degree, professional experience, and a strong commitment to teaching. Candidate should possess a broad knowledge of the entire music industry. The accomplishments of candidates for this position must reflect their commitment to working with an inclusive student population, and their ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the diversity and intercultural goals of the university.

The School of Music: The Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music is fully accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music and has a full-time faculty of 42 with approximately 425 music majors. Degree programs include: Bachelor of Music in performance, music history, composition, music education, music business, recording technology, jazz and studio music performance, jazz and studio music composition/arranging and commercial music; Master of Music in performance, musicology, Orff-Schulwerk, music education, pedagogy, jazz and studio music, composition and conducting; Doctor of Philosophy in musicology and music education; Doctor  of Musical Arts in performance, composition, and conducting.
