Clarinetist Katie Rice serves as the Senior Administrative Coordinator for Admissions and Awards for the College of Music and is a sought-after performer and private teacher in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Prior to joining the College of Music staff, she served as adjunct professor of clarinet and saxophone at Tarrant County College (Northwest), McLennan Community College, and North Central Texas College.

As a performer she maintains an active profile and is equally skillful on both clarinet and bass clarinet. She has visited several colleges and universities to present recitals and masterclasses in the Midwest, and is often invited to perform at national and international conferences. Recent highlights include performances at International Clarinet Association, College Music Society, National Association of College Wind and Percussion Instructors, and Texas Clarinet Colloquium.

She is also a founding member of Laissez-Pair, an emerging bass clarinet duo that regularly performs new and obscure works. Recently the duo was invited to premiere new commissions for bass clarinet duet at the International Clarinet Association.

Katie earned a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) degree from the University of North Texas, a Master of Music (MM) degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and a Bachelor of Music (BM) degree from Wartburg College.
