About the UNT Trombone Studio

The UNT Trombone Studio is one of the largest trombone programs in the world, with as many as 80 trombonists pursuing bachelors, masters and doctoral degrees in trombone performance, music education, jazz studies, conducting and composition. An outstanding teaching staff of four professors and five graduate teaching assistants (called teaching fellows or TFs) provide personalized instruction to all trombone students. In addition, students are provided ample opportunities in a wide range of ensembles, including orchestras, wind symphony, symphonic band, concert bands, brass band, jazz lab bands, trombone choirs, jazz trombone ensemble, brass quintets and trombone quartets. Trombone instruction is supplemented with frequent visits by world-renowned guest artists and ensembles. Graduates of the UNT Trombone Studio move on to prestigious performing and teaching positions.
