

Mark Holley began playing trombone at the age of 13 in his hometown of Coral Springs, FL. After quickly finding a joy for music Mark decided to attend the Interlochen Arts Academy in Interlochen, MI. This institution set the stage for Marks career path and led him to receive a Bachelor’s in music from DePaul University in Chicago, IL and a Master’s Degree from Rice University in Houston, TX.
Mark has taught and performed all around the United States, Canada and Europe. During his time in the Chicago area Mark played with the Axiom Brass Quintet, Kenosha Symphony, Lira Ensemble, Illinois Philharmonic, Chicago Trombone Consort, Dalniente New Music Ensemble, Whiting Park Symphony, and frequently traveled to Miami to play with the New World Symphony. In years past Mark has participated in a number of competitions and festivals, including the annual Fischoff Chamber Music competition in Indiana, the Eastern Trombone Workshop in Washington D.C., the Banff Music Festival in Banff, Alberta, Canada, and the Brass Chamber Music Forum in Louisville, KY. Mark can currently be found performing and teaching in the Dallas-Ft.Worth area and is working on Doctoral of Musical Arts at The University of North Texas.
Mark has been a teacher of music in Texas and Illinois, giving coachings, private lessons, and master classes. Mark has also studied with a number of great teachers, including Mark Fisher, David Waters, Tom Riccobono, Jay Friedman, Charlie Vernon, and Floyd Cooley, and is currently studying with Vern Kagarice at UNT. Great conductors Mark has played under include Larry Rachleff, Michael Tilson Thomas, Cliff Colnot, Itzhak Perlman, Steven Jarvi, and James Judd.
