Collaborative Opera Projects
After successful performances in Denton and Castelfranco, Veneto, Italy, in 2006, UNT Opera was invited to reprise its production of Così fan tutte for the prestigious Galuppi Festival in beautiful Venice:  a golden opportunity for our students to continue polishing their craft in a challenging and inspiring venue!
This marvelous opportunity sprang from the Collaborative Opera Projects that UNT Opera has undertaken to provide diverse and quality experiences for its aspiring opera singers.  In addition to Cosí fan tutte,  UNT Opera and the Conservatorio A. Steffani also collaboratively produced Verdi’s La traviata and Rossini’s La cambiale di matrimonio.

In 2009-2010, this project continues with it production of Smetana’s Prodaná nevestá (The Bartered Bride) when guest conductor Jirí Petrodík from Prague will coach the Czech and conduct 2 of the 4 performances. 

UNT opera also collaborates with UNT’s early music program in order to train its singers in baroque styles.  UNT Opera has fully produced L’incoronazione di Poppea and Cavalli’s L’Egisto.
