UNTCoM PHD CANDIDATE RECEIVES FELLOWSHIP: José R. Torres-Ramos, PhD Candidate in Ethnomusicology is the recipient of a Diversity Dissertation Teaching Fellowship from Hiram College in Ohio. The fellowship describes recipients as 'graduate students contributing to a diverse educational community, as evidenced in personal history and experience, research goals, or the promotion of understanding among persons of different backgrounds and ideas.'

ALUMNUS ASCAP AWARD: This week Daniel James Chan (BM '04, music composition) received a 2019 ASCAP Screen Award for Top Cable Television series “Supergirl.” He serves as co-composer on that show as well as “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.”

The UNT College of Music Council of Division Chairs selected Sam Miyashita, music theory/composition student, as the recipient of the 2018-2019 Presser Undergraduate Award. This is considered the most prestigious undergraduate award in music at UNT and has a continuous history of more than 60 years. It's recipient holds the title of "Presser Scholar."

STUDENT SUCCESS: Saxophonist, Landon Chang, has been selected as a Musicfest Northwest Gold medalist and will be performed the Villa Lobos Fantasia with the Spokane Symphony.
