Amrutha Murthy Receives Fellowship

Amrutha Murthy, Class of 2022, flute performance and music education student, has received an undergraduate research fellowship studying the facets of the ‘flow theory’ in music education which will be the basis of defending her undergraduate thesis. Her mentor will be Daniel Cook, Lecturer in Wind Studies, Director of Athletic Bands and Conductor of Wind Ensemble.

Alumni News: Odessa Choir to Perform at ACDA

The Nimitz Middle School Varsity Treble Choir (Ector County ISD, Odessa, Texas), directed by Anne Sieloff, was invited to perform at the 2021 American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) national conference. Derek Fletcher (BM '19) along with Keegan Fenton are assistant directors for the choral program.

Alumni Featured on Virtual Lyric Opera of Chicago Performance

Tomorrow evening, Sunday, July 26, at 6, Martin Luther Clark, tenor (BM '15) (GAC '17) performs Samuel K. Sweet's (BM '18) (MM '20, choral conducting), composition, “a just soliloquy" through the virtual experiences of Lyric Opera of Chicago. The work is dedicated to the victims of the Orlando, Florida Pulse Nightclub tragedy and also serves as a reflection on racial and LGBTQ+ inequality.
