Sounds Modern - Listening In(ward): music to celebrate the art of Ron Mueck

Have you ever overheard the private thoughts of a stranger? In this concert, Sounds Modern will present music that projects inward experience out loud. Much as Ron Mueck’s lifelike and detailed sculptures invite their viewers into the psychological experiences of the figures, music of California visionary James Tenney and other innovative composers will invite the audience to listen in(ward) to intimate meditations and conversations.

Guest Artist Performance: Amy Knoles, Percussion

Amy Knoles, Associate Dean and Interim Head of Percussion and Faculty of Electronic Percussion at CalArts, has headlined major festivals throughout the world.  Knoles was the former Executive Director of the California E.A.R. Unit.  The group was the Ensemble in Residence at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art for nineteen years and was awarded the "Letter of Distinction" from the American Music Center.
