The COM Wireless Lab
Purpose of the wireless lab
To allow students easy and comfortable access to basic computing needs such as:
- Internet access/email/media players
- Chat programs
- MSOffice programs (Word/Excel/PowerPoint)
- Open Source audio apps (Audacity/Spear/PD)
Hours of Operation (Fall/Spring Semesters only)
- Monday-Thursday 8:00am - 11:00pm
- Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm
Procedure for checkout
- All students must present a valid UNT Student ID in order to use a laptop. No other form of ID will be accepted. All Student ID’s must be encoded correctly and must be in the university system. If you are rejected by the system for any reason, you will not be able
to use a computer until you correct the problem with either the ID office or the Registrar.
- All computers must be used within the confines of the College of Music. The common area is the best location for wireless internet access, but may be used at other locations in the building if desired for academic needs.
- Any laptop that is not returned at the end of the day (closing time) will result in the blocking of a student's account, a report to the authorities and a bill for the replacement cost of the machine.

Saving Documents on the Laptops

Mac/PC Formats
All internet, PDF and Mircorsoft Office documents can be read by either Mac or PC computers. All CDs burned on these computers can be read by both Macs and PCs. The Mac computers can recognize
all USB memory sticks.
Printing
Printing is not available from the wireless lab. If you have documents that need to be printed, please go to the primary lab in MUSI 239.
Headphones
If you wish to use a laptop for streaming music or web broadcasts you will need to provide you own headphones. To prevent disruptions to other students in the commons area, the built-in speakers on the laptop are disabled.
