Priddy Fellowship
Priddy Fellowships in Arts Leadership
The Priddy Charitable Trust Fellowships in Arts Leadership provide support for students in visual arts and music to do graduate study in either the School or Visual Arts or the College of Music. Although the Fellowship program does not guarantee a graduate degree from UNT, graduate hours accumulated over the 12 month period may be applied toward a master’s or doctoral degree. The Fellowship includes a stipend of $18,000, a travel allowance of $3,500, an individual work space with state-of-the-art computer equipment, and access to the services of a full-time Computer Support Specialist.

Current and past Music Education Priddy Fellowship students:
2007-2008
Christian Hauser received his bachelor's degree (music composition) and master's degree (music education) from Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. He was on the Dean's List and received scholarships every year as an undergraduate and graduate student. Chris is pursuing the doctorate in music education at UNT. Prior to becoming a Priddy Fellow in Arts Leadership, Chris taught music for five years in the Metro Nashville Public Schools. While teaching K- 4 children, he conducted, composed and arranged music for touring ensembles, produced, arranged and directed 6 musicals for schools and constructed district wide 4th grade music assessment. Prior to beginning his teaching career, Chris was self-employed as an audio engineer/musician in Nashville, where he worked on many nationally released albums, commercials and movies. He has received numerous awards including the ASCAP Plus Award from 2000-2006 in recognition of creative output and compositional performances. He has a number of music compositions to his credit and has received several grants. Major orchestras have performed his compositions including the Houston, Nashville, Colorado Music Festival and Sioux City Symphony Orchestras. In 2006, Chris received a commission from the Nashville Ballet to compose a jazz ballet entitled which received numerous performances throughout Nashville.

Lindsey Johnson Mason holds the Bachelor of Music Education (BME) from Susquehanna University and the Master of Music (MM) degree in performance from the University of North Texas. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. degree in music education at UNT. With ten years of teaching experience at both the K-12 and university levels, she assisted Lori Custodero at Teachers College, Columbia University with planning and facilitating the New York Philharmonic Very Young People’s Concert. Committed to a career as a music teacher, Ms. Johnson’s expectations of the Priddy Fellowship is that it will help her to be a more effective advocate for the importance of music in children’s lives.
