Meeting Time: Fall, 2008 Semester, Thursdays, 5:00-7:50
The purpose of this course is to study the pedagogical approach of Carl Orff, one of Germany's most celebrated educator and composers. Today, the Orff Institute is part of the Universität Mozarteum Salzburg, Austria. This course will include a close examination of Austria's rich history, music, and culture. An 8-day study abroad experience will take place in the late part of the fall semester.
Travel to Austria: October 17-October 26, 2008
- A 2-day workshop at the Orff Institute in Salzburg, Austria (http://www.moz.ac.at)
- School observations in Salzburg and surrounding towns
- 4 days in Vienna
- Concerts in Salzburg and Vienna
- Visits to some of Europe's most spectacular cathedrals and museums
- City tours of Salzburg and Vienna
- A recreated 18th century dinner with performances of some of Mozart's most well know opera's
