Kodály in Context
“Kodály in Context” examines the music and curriculum of Zoltan Kodály (1882 - 1967), considered to be one of the most significant contributors to the field of music education and one of Hungary’s most accomplished musicians and ethnomusicologists. Students who register for “Kodály in Context” register for a 16-week course, during which time they take an 8-day trip to Hungary. The trip includes a city tour of Budapest, concerts in major performing arts halls, museums, a 2-day workshop at the Kodály Pedagogical Institute in Kecskemet, and school observations.
To learn more about our trip to Hungary in October, 2007, read Hungary, 2007. This article was printed in the Kodály Envoy, VOL. 34, NO. 4, Summer 2008 and was written to thank the Organization of American Kodály Educators for their generous gift to help support student travel.
