University of North Texas – Music History (19th-20th centuries) – Assistant Professor
The College of Music of the University of North Texas announces a position in Music History to begin in August 2012; salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The College is searching for a musicologist with expertise in Western music history, 19th through the 20th centuries.
Qualifications: Ph.D. or equivalent degree in musicology or music history at time of appointment, a significant record of research and publication in the field, and demonstrated excellence in teaching. Areas of specialization complementary to those of existing faculty members as well as a record of mentoring doctoral students are particularly desirable.
Duties: Actively pursue research and publication; teach undergraduate and graduate courses in musicology; supervise Ph.D. dissertations, and theses in the DMA, Master’s and undergraduate programs; and participate on committees at the level of the division, college, and university. The successful candidate is expected to collaborate with faculty members from other divisions within the College.
Start date: August 2012.
