Senior Director of Development
Alan Klaas came to the UNT College of Music after a decade of successful fundraising at Mohave Community College (Kingman, Arizona) and Concordia University in Chicago. His entrepreneurial spirit brings energy and creativity to uncovering ways to help current and future donors live out their philanthropic desires by connecting with the mission and activities of the College of Music.
Alan spent twenty-five years in the business world. For fifteen years he was a corporate officer of a Fortune 500 company leading their corporate research function, the corporate R&D unit and then founding a bank. Alan spent ten years in private practice providing consulting services to a variety of organizations struggling with the challenges created by their changing business environment. Early in his professional life, Alan was an associate professor in the Graduate School of Wayne State University (Detroit, Michigan) teaching statistics and research design to doctoral candidates. He holds a PhD and MA from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, and earned a BA in education from Concordia University.
A long-time supporter of music in a variety of residency locations, Alan has enjoyed participating in the tenor section of school choirs, the Concordia University choir and choirs in the churches in which he held membership.
