Officer Job Descriptions
The President is expected to. . .- represent the organization at all levels of involvement in a highly professional manner.
- preside over all business related meetings affiliated with the UNT student chapter of ACDA.
- serve as a communication liaison between and among officers and the faculty advisor.
- identify and communicate potential conflicts with scheduled ACDA events.
- monitor progress of each officer’s assigned area of concentration.
- serve as an assistant in each officer’s assigned area of concentration.
- fill a leadership void when necessary.
- organize and facilitate service projects related to the UNT Voice Squad in a professional manner.
The Vice-President in Charge of Events is expected to. . .1. Adopt-a-Singer and Calhoun Middle School
a. serve as a communication liaison between and among Calhoun choral music teacher, UNT Voice Squad, and student chapter president and faculty advisor.
2. Adopt-a-Singer and UNT aural skills classes
a. serve as a communication liaison between and among UNT aural skills teachers, UNT Voice Squad, UNT students requesting voice lesson assistance, and student chapter president and faculty advisor.
- organize and facilitate events related to social and recruitment activities in a professional manner.

b. order memento gift for each graduating choral music education student.
- organize and facilitate all road trips related to ACDA projects and events in a professional manner.
1. Black History Month visit to a Sunday church service in an African American Church rich in its gospel and spiritual music tradition.
2. Area school concerts at the middle and high school level
3. UIL large group choral events as observers and/or festival workers.
- disperse, collect, and process documents pertaining to chapter membership applications and membership dues in accordance to ACDA national procedures.
- oversee deposits and spending related to the student chapter financial account
- facilitate the Choir Rent-A-Folder project for UNT choirs in consultation with the chapter advisor, choir directors, and choral librarian.
- attend UNT Student Government meetings: Eagle’s Nest, and report findings to the chapter president and chapter advisor.
- maintain and update appropriate registrations pertaining to UNT student government, student organizations, and Eagle’s Nest.
- access and notify the membership of available scholarships or potential grants associated with the UNT student government, student organizations, Eagle’s Nest.
- organize and facilitate (in consultation with the membership, officers, and the chapter advisor) six presentations throughout the academic year.
Vice-President in Charge of Website Communications is expected to. . .a. Extend formal invitations to presenters and serve as the contact host.
b. Advertise presentations through posters and verbal announcements to insure an
appropriate audience.
c. Record attendance to each presentation.
d. Send a formal thank you card to each presenter.
e. Offer a drawing prize, courtesy of Pender’s Music, at the final presentation of each year for individuals who had attended no less than four of the six presentations.
f. Use chapter funds to purchase simple snacks for the end of each presentation.
- develop a working relationship with the College of Music webmaster.
- collect, update, prepare, and submit appropriate student chapter information and materials to the chapter president for approval.
- submit approved information and materials to the COM webmaster for website posting.
UNT Student Chapter ACDA
Officer Election Process
Eligibility: An officer candidate must have completed one full academic year as a paid ACDA student chapter member in good standing.
- In the week following spring break, current officers meet to discuss potential officers for the upcoming academic year.
- Current officers meet with faculty advisor to discuss and confirm a potential slate(s) of officers for the upcoming academic year.
- In an open meeting in early April, a slate of officers is proposed for chapter consideration.
- Chapter members are offered opportunities to submit an alternate slate of officers.
- Chapter members are notified of all proposed officer slates for the upcoming academic year.
- A ballot is created.
- The voting period (the week prior to the second semester finals) and the voting location (choral library) are announced.
- New officers are announced to the membership on the first day of second semester finals.
